Axial or Radial? Choosing the Optimal Turbomachinery Configuration Leveraging Generative Design

Axial or radial…that is the question.
View Recording
Turbomachinery is ubiquitous in the vehicles we drive, the energy we rely on, and the planes we fly in. With the wide range of applications, however, choosing the optimal configuration can be challenging. The best configuration may depend on various factors, such as the working fluid, desired outputs, sizing requirements, manufacturing specifications, and cost. This begs the question: how do we choose between axial and radial turbomachinery, and what strategies and tools should we use?

In this webinar, presented by SoftInWay, Inc. and Anax Power, a leader in renewable energy technology, we will delve into the challenge of developing turbomachinery, particularly expanders, and answer the age-old question of how to choose between axial and radial configurations using a generative design strategy.

Axial or Radial? Choosing the Optimal Turbomachinery Configuration Leveraging Generative Design

We will begin the webinar by demonstrating how users can easily define basic boundary conditions through cycle design and analysis using the AxSTREAM Platform. From there, we will explore AxSTREAM’s generative design capabilities to quickly produce thousands of designs within minutes for review, comparison, filtering, and selection, providing the necessary insights for companies to decide whether they should choose an axial or radial configuration. The final section of the webinar will be presented by Michael Longo of Anax Power, who will showcase the company’s innovative turboexpander technology. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn firsthand how Anax’s unique design sets them apart.

By the end of this webinar, you will have a clear understanding of how generative design can help you:

  • Quickly define, model, analyze and select the ideal configuration for your application.
  • Drastically reduce development time and cost.
  • Improve machine performance (90-95% of efficiency challenges are solved in the early phases of a design project).
  • Easily explore new concepts to not only compete but shape the industry.

In addition to the webinar, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a guided 2-hour AxSTREAM workshop and a short-term trial to explore the tools used in the presentation. The training will take place on Wednesday, June 14th, from 11 AM to 1 PM. Please indicate your interest when registering for this webinar, and a member of our team will be in touch.

* To be eligible for the workshop, you must register using a business email address and must attend the webinar session.
