AxSTREAM ION – Optimized and Automated Turbomachinery Design

Burlington, MA,  June 20, 2017 –  SoftInWay is proud to announce the release of the newest addition to the AxSTREAM® platform, AxSTREAM ION™. This software tool performs optimization tasks and helps to structure and accelerate the overall design process by utilizing a set of criteria and modeling rules.

Since 2005, when AxSTREAM was first released for turbomachinery design, analysis, and optimization, SoftInWay has been steadily adding new features to account for the ever-changing market. What was once a platform for flow path design of axial turbines has developed into a fully integrated software suite which can handle the design of numerous machine types (axial, radial, mixed flow, counter rotating, and so on) spanning a wide range of applications. Over the course of the past 12 years, modules for cooling flows and secondary systems, rotor design, rotor dynamics analysis, and bearing design have been added to the AxSTREAM platform – drastically increasing the speed of design. That being said, projects that once took years are now expected to be completed in a matter of weeks and sacrifice of quality, efficiency, and overall functionality is not an option.

University of Leicester Leverages AxCYCLE for Thermodynamic Cycle Design and Analysis

Burlington, MA,  March 27, 2017 – SoftInWay is excited to announce that the University of Leicester has joined the ranks of educational institutes leveraging SoftInWay’s turbomachinery design, analysis and optimization software. Aspiring engineers will now have the opportunity to use AxCYCLE, an industry-leading thermodynamic cycle design and analysis tool, which will allow these students to gain the practical skills needed to prepare for entry into the workplace.

Founded nearly a century ago, the University of Leicester is committed towards providing its students with a world-class education. Currently, the Engineering Department is one of the largest departments in the university and is known for its detailed and thorough research and expert curriculum. A top tier university requires reliable and dynamic tools, however, and it was with this in mind that the Leicester chose AxCYCLE as their go-to software for thermodynamics.

This software solution provides users with the ability to design, analyze and optimize different thermodynamic cycles via thermodynamic simulation and heat balance calculations. AxCYCLE is user-friendly and can simulate a number of different cycles including ORC, steam, gas, combined, supercritical CO2, and much more.
