AxSTREAM Software Was Adopted by Moscow Aviation Institute

BURLINGTON, Massachusetts, May 17, 2011. Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI, State Technical University) has adopted AxSTREAM to teach turbomachinery design. The University and SoftInWay Inc. signed a software license agreement according to which the Educational Version of AxSTREAM (AEV) will be incorporated into the curriculum, helping students to gain a better, real-life understanding of the basic principles of turbine/compressor design.

AxSTREAM Educational Version is meant for design and optimization of four types of machines: axial turbine, axial compressor, radial turbine and radial compressor. It consists of modules for preliminary design, 1D/2D analysis, flow path multidisciplinary optimization, airfoil profiling, 3D blade stacking and 3D FEA/CFD analysis.

Dr. Tech. Sc. Timouchev Serguei, Professor of Turbomachinery, Head of Laboratory of Numerical Modeling in Moscow Aviation Institute stated: “The aerospace industry has a significant demand for new, highly efficient engines, advanced tools to design small and large engines and an educated workforce capable of using them. By acquiring AEV and incorporating it into our curriculum, we hope to solve all of these questions and train our students to design efficient turbomachinery.”

“SoftInWay is pleased to declare our partnership with such an authoritative university as Moscow Aviation Institute; for us this agreement is a great opportunity for further development of the turbomachinery design industry worldwide,” – concluded Dr. Leonid Moroz, President and CEO of SoftInWay Inc.

Beside MAI, AxSTREAM Educational Version is successfully used by the educational community all over the globe, including Kaluga Branch of Bauman Moscow State Technical University (Russia), State Marine Technical University of St. Petersburg (Russia), Pennsylvania State University (USA), Tsinghua University (China), Namik Kemal University (Turkey) and Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding (Ukraine).

AxSTREAM Educational Version is available for purchase in yearly and quarterly licenses at SoftInWay’s website https://www.softinway.com/education/axstream-educational-version.asp.

About Moscow Aviation Institute

Moscow Aviation Institute (State Technical University) is one of the world-leading engineering universities dedicated to aerospace technologies. More than 140,000 students including 1,000 international students from 40 countries have graduated from Moscow Aviation Institute after its foundation in 1930. During the early 1930’s, Moscow Aviation Institute amounted to only 290 students in 2 schools. But now at the beginning of the twenty first century, our university of aerospace technologies consists of more than 1,700 professors and lecturers including both 300 full-professors (D.Sc) and 800 associate professors (Ph.D) who teach more than 20,000 undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students at 10 schools, 3 institutes, and 4 branches of the University. Moscow Aviation Institute includes among its alumni about 100 general and chief designers, 43 members and associate members of the Russian academy of science, 250 State and Government Prize laureates, and 21 cosmonauts who spent a total of 12 years in outer space. The present-day Moscow Aviation Institute is a unique institute of higher education where a thorough theoretical knowledge combines with various practical skills. More than 120 laboratories, 3 student design offices, numerous computer centers, an experimental-design factory, and an aerodrome are available for our students. The Moscow Aviation Institute is an advancing multiple-discipline academic and research center which provides students with the current-technology knowledge to rank as a qualified scientist and engineer all over the world.
