Turbomachinery Design Special Projects
Is your design team facing an impossible deadline for project completion?
Are you looking at a design conundrum that there just does not seem to be an answer for?
A solution is at hand. SoftInWay has over 600 years of turbomachinery design experience that is available on a specific project basis to solve the most complex flow path design challenges.
Using AxSTREAM Turbomachinery Design Software, SoftInWay engineers will work with the client’s engineers to scope the problem, define the constraints, establish the objectives, and secure the results in a timely and cost efficient manner.
Let our team and AxSTREAM help your team.
Case Study 1
“A jet engine manufacturer retained SoftinWay to perform an assessment of a
design of a low pressure turbine, and to determine any potential ways to
improve the design while keeping the outer casing dimensions the same.
Using AxSTREAM, SoftinWay engineers were able to redesign the flow path
while maintaining the same flow characteristics and power output. The new
design eliminated one complete stage (from 7 to 6), which resulted in a 15
percent weight reduction of the turbine. Design fitted in an overall engine
configuration (mean diameters of the first and last stages) and efficiency
was increased to 94%.”
Case Study 2
A service company for turbomachinery asked SoftinWay to perform redesign of LP steam turbine for
the purpose of flow path improvement and capacity increase, while keeping the outer and axial
casing dimensions the same. Using AxSTREAM, SoftinWay engineers were able to redesign the flow path.
The LP turbine capacity was increased 16 percent
(from 347 to 401 kW), even while the design inlet pressure was decreased from 1.29 to 0.97 bar.
