AxSTREAM V.2.0 FOR RADIAL TURBOMACHINERY
|
|
In December 2006 SoftInWay released AxSTREAM v.2.0 which brings
the proven design and optimization capabilities for axial turbomachinery to the world
of radial turbomachinery. AxSTREAM can now be used to design flow paths for centrifugal
compressor, radial turbines, mixed flow turbines, fans, blowers, turbochargers, turbopumps,
etc. An educational version of AxSTREAM for radial turbomachinery was also released.
Along with design capabilities for radial turbines and compressors,
AxSTREAM v.2.0 has incorporated into it a number of new and beneficial features such as:
-
Mixed/Radial/Axial flow path design “from scratch” and multidisciplinary optimization using a handful of basic
parameters and a set of geometric constraints
- Mixed/Radial/Axial flow path Meanline analysis and optimization with
support of “as-designed” and off-design operational conditions
- Throughflow analysis
- Camberline/Thickness interactive
profiling and airfoil design
- Push-Button FEA
- Integrated optimizer based on design-of-experiment (DoE) methodology
- Performance maps generation
- Capability to export 3D airfoil geometry in formats acceptable for Numeca, ANSYS CFX, etc.
and in IGES format for NX, SolidWorks, Pro-E, ANSYS etc.

AxSTREAM EDUCATIONAL FOR RADIAL TURBOMACHINERY
|
|
Following the successful mid-year release of AxSTREAM Educational Version for axial turbines and compressors,
SoftinWay has now released a similar Educational Version for Radial Turbomachinery. These programs are advanced
teaching tools for any college or university conducting studies in the areas of turbomachinery design.
They provide students and faculty access to leading edge
turbomachinery design and multidisciplinary optimization software at minimum expense.
This program constitutes a "learn as you go" course that aids students in understanding the
overall design and performance principles of radial turbines and centrifugal compressors through the same fully
interactive AxSTREAM™ design programs used by engineering professionals throughout the world.
Seoul National University has placed the initial order for the radial educational version.
"Upon examination, we concluded that the educational versions of AxSTREAM™ offered by SoftInWay
are powerful teaching tools in helping our engineering students develop from theoretical to practical, real world
turbomachinery flow path design," said Dr. Shin-Hyoung Kang, Professor at School of Mechanical and Aerospace
Engineering at the Seoul National University. "This teaching tool will, no doubt, help our
students be better engineers when they enter the industrial world."

MEET US IN MONTREAL FOR ASME/IGTI TURBO-EXPO
|
|
SoftInWay is going to conduct a course on the use of its AxSTREAM™ Suite of Multidisciplinary
Design Optimization software on May 11-12, 2007.
The course is being conducted in conjunction with the ASME/IGTI Turbo-Expo Conference
and Exhibition at Palais
de Congrès in Montréal. This is an on-hands course and is a special offering in that it is constructed to include
both axial and radial turbomachinery. The course is designed for engineers involved in the design or retrofitting
of flow paths for turbines, compressors, turbochargers, fans, blowers and turbopumps,
and any current user of AxSTREAM™ who is interested in getting the most out of the power of AxSTREAM™.
The conference occurs May 14-17. Please come by and say Bon Jour at our booth, #501.
As the number-one city in Canada for international meetings, Montréal has always been
synonymous with attendance records and success.
Thanks to its culture, the warmth of its residents, and a beautiful and bustling downtown, Montréal is a destination where attending a
convention or exhibition becomes a memorable and enriching experience.
